What is Camp America?
Camp America is a unique way for international
students to gain experience in working inter-cultural
environment. Its an exchange program in where applicants
work in youth camps during 9 weeks in USA
Children aged 6-16 years old from very different
kinds of backgrounds go to camp each summer where they
have the opportunity to learn new skills, try new
activities, make friends and have fun!! Exchange
students are responsible for those children during the
camp. Here are the FAQ about CampAmerica.
How old do I need to be to attend camp?
You must be 18 years of age by June 1st 2005. This is a
Visa requirement, there is no leniency in this area.
When do I need to be available and for how
long?
Be available for nine weeks, leaving for the
USA no later than June 28th 2005 (preference is given to
applicants who are available earlier and for longer
periods).
How long does the placement last for?
The standard placement period for Camp America is 9
weeks, however Resort America applicants must be
available for 12 weeks and the Resort America placement
period can last for up to 17 weeks.
What skills/experience do I need to have?
Have skills that will be relevant to jobs at a summer
camp. You could be a student, teacher, sports instructor
or youth worker (Counsellor role). Due to visa
restriction only students who are not in their
final year can be offered the Campower role, such
as ground staff, waitress or chef in your country. For a

When does my Visa start and how long does it
last?
When you receive your visa it will start on the first
day of your camp, however you are allowed to enter the
US 30 days prior to this start date but this is at the
discretion of the immigration office at point of
entry. Your visa expires one month after you
complete your placement or October 31st, whichever
comes first.
